At least four heavily armed men, including a sucide bomber, stormed a police station in the Zahedan area of Western (Iranian-administrated) Balochistan on Saturday.
According to Iranian law enforcement officials in Sistan-Baluchistan, four gunmen attacked the police station on Razi Street using hand grenades and seized control of a watchtower.
Local officials stated that at least one suicide bomber detonated explosives to create an entry point for others into the heavily guarded premises. However, police officials insist that there were no suicide bombings and only hand grenades were used.
Iranian national television reported “all four terrorists” and two policemen died in the raid.
A militant group, Jaish ul-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack. “The attack targeted the main culprits of Zahedan’s Bloody Friday”, the group stated.
