As Balochistan University suffers from another financial crisis, the action committee comprising teachers, employees and university officials continued to protest for the second day by locking all departments and boycotting the examinations at the varsity.
Academic Staff Association, University Officers Association and Balochistan University Employees Union, a representative organization of teachers in the action committee, locked the offices of all departments, including the transport, and waved black flags in protest.
The action committee claims that the teachers and officials at the university have not been paid for the last two months. The Joint Action Committee headed a rally comprising all the associations against the non-payment of salaries, pending promotions, upgradation, time scale cases, amendment in the Universities Act, and representation of associations in the university bodies.
The participants demanded the removal of the Vice Chancellor and the payment of unpaid salaries and chanted slogans in support of their demands.
The leaders of the Action Committee, namely Dr. Kalimullah, Nazir Ad Lehri, Shah Ali Bugti, and others, have announced that they plan to expand their protests. They intend to completely shut down all offices, examination departments, classes, and transportation. Furthermore, they have decided to continue boycotting BA and BSC examinations until their demands are met.
“The Higher Education Commission has also cut the funds of the basic sector of knowledge and research, as well as the central governments should also release a grant of Four billion rupees to the provinces so that the teachers suffering from non-payment of salaries in the holy month can come out of mental agony and resume the education process.”
