The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the explosion that killed a man in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district. The group said the deceased was a Pakistani “intelligence agent” who was involved in numerous activities targeting the Baloch nationalists.
The group said its Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) targeted Aftab Shah, an alleged Pakistani intelligence agent, in an explosion in Khuzdar. Shah was critically injured and moved to Quetta for treatment, but he succumbed to his wounds and died.
BLA said its intelligence wing had revealed that Aftab Shah was on the payroll of the Pakistani security forces. He was trying to wheedle his way into the ranks of Baloch “pro-independence” fighters to spy on them at the behest of his military overlords. He ran an intelligence network in the Khuzdar city and tehsil Zehri and was involved in numerous activities targeting Baloch “pro-independence” fighters and nationalists. Furthermore, Shah was also involved in ransom kidnapping, target killings, and enforced disappearances of Baloch activists and student leaders.
BLA said its fighters had also contacted Aftab Shah to “trap” and “eliminate” him in an explosion, the group said.
The Baloch Liberation Army said it will continue its attacks on Pakistani security forces and their facilitators in Balochistan.
In another development, unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade at a group of Eagle Squad personnel in Turbat, Kech, on Friday and escaped.
A soldier, identified as Abdullah, was wounded in the attack. He was moved to the hospital for treatment. The police have reportedly started looking for the attackers.
