Scores of civilians gathered on roads on Sunday in Panjgoor to protest against target killings and the ubiquitous insecurity in the city. The participants carried posters, banners, placards ant photos of the victims of target killings.

The protest was called and organized by the Panjgoor civil society and joined by scores of civilians, social leaders and activists. The protest rally began at the Javed Chowk and culminated in front of the Panjgoor after marching on the roads of the city. The protestors chanted slogans against the city administration and demanded justice for their slain loved ones.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers said that the rampant target killings in Panjgoor are causing chaos and insecurity in the city. They said that more than a dozen individuals have been killed in just one month and their killers are still on the loose. They said that the city administration, police and other law enforcement agencies have capitulated to these criminals.

The speakers said that the lack of action by the law enforcement agencies has emboldened the criminals to the extent that they now breach into houses, harass the women and children and kill the male householders in front of their families. They said that the police has so far failed to bring even a single perpetrator to justice.
