Pakistani security forces were targeted in two separate attacks in Bolan and Turbat on Thursday, leaving five dead and potentially several others wounded.

According to reports, five Pakistani soldiers were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on the forces’ convoy in the Saangaan Bolan on Thursday. The deceased soldiers were identified as Naik Nadir, Havildar Zafar, Basheer, Hidayat and Sepoy Noorullah.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Pakistani forces have been attacked several times in that area. Baloch “pro-independence” groups, especially the Baloch Liberation Army, have claimed responsibility for several of such attacks.

In a separate attack in Turbat, the Pakistani forces were targeted when unknown men threw a hand grenade at their checkpoint near the Pak Hotel. There is no official confirmation of the attack by the Pakistani authorities, but it is suspected that the forces sustained heavy material damages as a result of the explosion.
