A leading rights activist and senior leader of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, Sanna Ejaz, has been forcibly removed by authorities from Balochistan. Ms Ejaz was in Zhob, Balochistan to inaugurate a library for girls in the town.

In a tweet, Sanna Ejaz, alleged that she was arrested and then ousted from the region by government of Balochistan.

The girls library in Zhob, which Sanna Ejaz was inaugurating on Sunday, is an initiative by a non-governmental organisation called Weak. Ms Ejaz is also a founding member of the same organisation.

Waak is a Pakhtun women’s movement defending women’s political and socio-economic rights. The organisation maintains it is a non-partisan entity working on a mission to educate women.

Sanna Ejaz’s forceful remove from Balochistan has widely been condemned by social media users.

Afrasiab Khattak, a former lawmaker and a veteran Pashtun politician, in a tweet said that Sanna Ejaz’s expulsion from Balochistan proves that state considers promotion of education as a crime while terrorism is encouraged.

Earlier in September 2020, another PTM leader and Member of Pakistan National Assembly, Mohsin Dawar was arrested from Quetta airport and subsequently removed from Balochistan. Whereas, Manzoor Pashteen, Chairman of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), has also been banned from entering Balochistan by the government since 2018.
