A coal miner was killed in a landslide accident in Dukki area of Balochistan on Saturday morning.

According to the Levies sources, coal miner was digging deep inside the mine when a landslide occurred. The dead coal miner was identified as Ubaidullah, a resident of Afghanistan.

Levies said, the other miners, acting on their own rescued the dead body.

The body was taken to the District Hospital in Dukki. Ubaid was a young man working in the coal mines of Dukki for past few years.

It should be mention that there are at least 20,000 labourers employed across Balochistan in 2,500 mines.

Incidents of this nature have become commonplace in coal mines in Dukki and other parts of Balochistan, largely due to the unavailability of the necessary equipments to miners.

According to a report, from the year 2000 to 2019, more than 1300 miners were killed in Pakistan due to blasts, landslides and various accidents, where a large number of accidents is included from Balochistan.

On one hand, workers in the mines of Balochistan are not provided enough facilities and on other hand, they get minimum wages by which they barely can run their houses.
