The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons’ (VBMP) protest against the enforced disappearances in Balochistan and for the retrieval of the Baloch missing persons has reached 3975-day hallmark. The members of the central committee of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) visited the protest camp today and consoled the family members of the missing persons.

According to The Balochistan Post news desk; the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has completed its 3975th day of protest in front of the Quetta press club. Notable members of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement, including Mehmood Khan, District Coordinator Noor Bacha, Agha Zubair and others, visited the camp to offer their sympathies and express solidarity to the families of the missing persons.

According to sources, the families of the missing Hassan Ullah, Hizbullah and Jahanzaib Qambrani participated in the protest and demanded the recovery of their loved ones.

Talking to a delegate, Mama Qadeer Baloch, chairperson of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, said that the Pakistani intelligence agencies are detaining Baloch, Pashtun and Sindhi inhabitants of Balochistan for unjustified reasons. He further said that the security forces inflict “inhumane” tortures on the detainees, kill them and then throw their corpses to further spread fear among the people. He said that the Sindhi, Baloch and Pashtun people have long since abandoned the expectations of clemency from the state or any other state-backed institutions. Instead, he maintained, we hope that the international human rights organizations, including United Nations and Amnesty International, will take notice and intervene in the “systematic ethnic cleansing” of Baloch, Sindhis and Pashtuns in various parts of Pakistan.

Mama Qadeer said that Pakistan is apathetic to the global peace because its “economy is fuelled by terrorism”. Therefore, he said, it is utterly futile to look forward to Pakistan for playing any role in the establishment of regional peace. He said that Pakistan’s “terroristic resolves” have been perilous to the entire world in the past, and the current “oppression” and “tyranny” in Balochistan or KPK are no different.

Mama Qadeer further said that the global organizations are beholden to put an end to Pakistan’s “terroristic ambitions” and frustrate the impending violence and bloodshed in the “occupied areas”. Moreover, he said that Pakistan’s persistent violence can escape the borders and clutch the entire world in its grip.

It is pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances are a major human rights issue in Balochistan. Thousands of people are allegedly missing with no prospects of recovery. 7 mutilated and partially decomposed bodies have been found throughout Balochistan in the past month. Several people, including students, have disappeared in various cities of Balochistan in the past couple of days. Baloch nationalists accuse Pakistani intelligence agencies of “targeting the fruitful youth of Balochistan” in their attempts to “hinder the Baloch from intellectual development”.
