Fourteen people have been picked up by the Pakistani forces during a military operation today in Tump.

According to the details received by The Balochistan Post, today, Pakistani forces carried a door-to-door search operation in Gomazi village near Tump.

According to the sources, Pakistani forces were accompanied with secret agents who were marking the houses.

Initially, fourteen people were reported to be missing, but according to the sources, six out of fourteen have been released, but eight are still missing.

The missing persons were identified as Mulla Zahid s/o Barkat, Fida s/o Khuda dad, Jalal s/o Khuda dad, khalid s/o Anwar, Sagheer s/o Abdul Samad and Adam s/o Ibrahim. The identity of two others is yet to be ascertained.

Relatives of the missing persons were concerned about the whereabouts of the loved ones. “People who go missing during military operations are never produced in front of the court”, said a relative.

Balochistan, where the campaign groups allege that more than 20,000 political activists are under incommunicado detention, has seen a surge in number of people being ‘abducted’ by Pakistani security forces.

The term abducted is widely used in Balochistan to connote arrests made by security forces as the arrested are not presented before court of law and instead kept in military camps.
