Thirteen Pakistani military personnel were reportedly killed or injured in an explosion in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Tuesday, while military convoys and commercial vehicles came under attack in separate incidents in Khuzdar and Surab on Wednesday.
The military vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sajo, in Harnai’s Shahrag area, according to local sources, who said the vehicle was destroyed.
However, the number of fatalities and injuries could not be independently confirmed, while Pakistani authorities had yet to formally acknowledge the incident.
Meanwhile, in Khuzdar district, armed fighters attacked a convoy of commercial vehicles and Pakistani forces personnel escorting it near Samba Bridge on the Quetta–Karachi trade route, sources said.
The attackers reportedly targeted fuel tankers, container trucks and other vehicles with rockets and other weapons. Gunfire and explosions were heard in the area for an extended period.
Sources said commercial vehicles were destroyed and Pakistani forces personnel suffered casualties. However, the extent of the damage and the number of those killed or injured could not be confirmed.
In a separate incident, a Pakistani military convoy came under attack in Surab’s Hajika area. Initial reports said the attackers targeted a military vehicle in an explosion before launching an armed assault on the convoy. Further details regarding casualties and damage were not immediately available.
Baloch pro-independence armed groups have repeatedly targeted Pakistani forces and commercial vehicles in these areas. However, no group had claimed responsibility for any of the three attacks at the time of reporting.
