The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) said on Tuesday its fighters killed 10 Pakistani military personnel in a convoy ambush in Chagai and destroyed a military camp after a two-day siege in Mastung.

In a statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said fighters targeted a 12-vehicle Pakistani military convoy at Chah Sar on the Quetta-Taftan main highway in the Padag area of Chagai on August 3.

The statement said the convoy was targeted with heavy and automatic weapons in what the group described as a “planned and coordinated ambush”.

Four military vehicles came under direct fire during the attack, killing 10 Pakistani personnel on the spot and wounding several others, the BLF claimed.

In another operation, Gwahram Baloch said BLF fighters targeted a water tanker supplying water to a Pakistani military camp in the Talkhkawi area of Mastung on August 1.

The tanker was severely damaged, while its driver abandoned the vehicle and fled, the statement said.

The BLF said the attack cut off the camp’s water supply, leaving Pakistani military personnel confined inside for two consecutive days and unable to carry out any movement.

“The purpose of suspending the water supply to the occupying army was to completely sever the camp’s supply of water and other daily necessities, keeping the enemy under siege, and to ambush and target any military reinforcements or convoy that might come to their aid from outside,” the statement said.

By August 3, the statement said, Pakistani military personnel at the Talkhkawi camp came under pressure and began abandoning the position.

Gwahram Baloch said BLF fighters attacked the personnel as they were leaving the camp, wounding four soldiers and forcing the remaining personnel to flee after abandoning equipment.

At around 9:00am the same day, the statement said, BLF fighters “completely besieged” the Talkhkawi camp, advanced into the position and took control of it.

The group said its fighters set fire to military records and equipment found inside the camp and “completely destroyed and razed” the position.

Pakistani authorities had not issued a statement on the group’s claims at the time of publication.
