Pakistani forces came under attack in two separate incidents in Balochistan’s Kharan and Surab districts, while several people were detained during a subsequent military operation in the Naghar area of Surab, local sources said.
Armed fighters targeted a Pakistani military convoy comprising several vehicles near Zomi on the Kharan-Quetta highway in the Nauroz Kalat area of Kharan, the sources said.
Several personnel were reportedly killed in the attack, although authorities had not issued any official confirmation or casualty details.
A second attack was reported in the Kond area of Naghar, where Pakistani forces personnel patrolling on motorcycles were targeted.
Following the attack, Pakistani forces reportedly carried out an operation in Naghar, raiding several locations.
Local sources alleged that residents were physically assaulted during the operation and that a number of people were taken into custody. The identities and number of those detained could not immediately be confirmed.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attacks at the time of publication, while Pakistani authorities had not issued a statement regarding the attacks, operation or reported detentions.
