The bullet-riddled body of a man who was allegedly forcibly disappeared more than 14 months ago was recovered in Gwadar district of Balochistan on Monday.
According to police, an unidentified body was found in the Chibwari Talar area of Kulanch in Gwadar district. The body was later identified as Majid Ali, son of Sajid Ali, a resident of Pasni, after a handwritten note bearing his identity was reportedly found in his pocket.
Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), said its verified records showed that Majid Ali was taken away by Pakistani forces from his petrol station in Pasni on April 28, 2025.
The organisation said he had remained missing for more than 14 months until his body was recovered on Monday.
The rights group described the killing as extrajudicial and said the case reflected what it called the continuing pattern of enforced disappearances and “kill-and-dump” cases in Balochistan.
The organisation called for a “independent and impartial investigation” into Majid Ali’s disappearance and killing. It said those responsible should be held accountable if the allegations are substantiated.
Paank also urged an end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
