Pakistani forces were targeted in an armed attack and an explosion in Balochistan’s Kharan district on Thursday, while armed fighters established a blockade on the CPEC road in Gowash and set two trucks ablaze, local sources said.
The armed attack took place near Killi Karim Bakhsh on the Quetta-Kharan main highway as Pakistani forces were moving through the area, the sources said.
They said casualties were reported among the personnel and that the forces retreated following the attack. Pakistani authorities, however, did not immediately provide any details.
In a separate incident, Pakistani forces were targeted in an explosion while transporting supplies to their checkpoints in Kharan, local sources said, adding that the forces withdrew from the area after the blast.
Meanwhile, armed fighters established a blockade on the CPEC road in the Gowash area and conducted snap checks of passing vehicles.
Sources said the fighters stopped and seized two trucks during the blockade and later set them on fire, destroying both vehicles.
No group had claimed responsibility for the incidents at the time of publication.
