Five men from Punjab were shot dead after unidentified armed men opened fire at a shop in the Mashkail area of Balochistan’s Washuk district on Sunday, police and local sources said.
Local sources said armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at the shop and fled the scene. The five men belonged to different areas of Punjab.
Police officials said the victims suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
They said police and other personnel reached the site soon after receiving information about the attack and shifted the bodies to a government health facility in Mashkail.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, expressing grief over the loss of lives and extending condolences to the families of the deceased.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
