Armed fighters set six more heavy vehicles ablaze on the Quetta-Taftan highway in Noshki on Thursday, bringing the number of vehicles burned in the district during the day to 10, while seven trailers were seized during a separate blockade in Mastung, local sources said.
The latest attack took place near the railway crossing in the Ahmed Wal area.
Earlier, four vehicles, including a tanker, were targeted and burned on the same highway in the Mal area of Noshki.
Earlier in the day, armed fighters held the Quetta-Taftan highway for several hours in the Sheikh Wasil area of Mastung and seized seven trailers.
No armed organisation had claimed responsibility for the attacks or the blockade at the time of publication.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed several earlier blockades and attacks along the Quetta-Taftan highway over the past month as part of what it calls an “economic blockade”.
“We will no longer, under any circumstances, allow trucks, trailers or convoys carrying looted Baloch resources and minerals to pass through here,” the BLA said in a statement last month after claiming it had established “complete control” over the Quetta-Taftan highway.
