The body of a 22-year-old driver was recovered from the Chakkol area on the outskirts of Balochistan’s Panjgur district, days after his family said he had been forcibly disappeared from the CPEC Road area in Sarsand.

Police said the body was shifted to Teaching Hospital Panjgur for identification, adding that the victim had been shot dead.

The deceased was later identified as Mujahid, son of Habib, a resident of Kaleri in Panjgur’s Parom tehsil.

Family members said Mujahid went missing on the night of June 7, alleging that he was taken into custody by Pakistani forces, after which no information was provided about his whereabouts.

In a statement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said Mujahid had been “forcibly disappeared” before his bullet-riddled body was later found near Chakkol, describing the case as part of a continuing pattern of disappearances and killings in Balochistan.

The BYC said families of missing persons were repeatedly left searching for answers after their loved ones were taken away, adding that human rights defenders had long called for transparent investigations into enforced disappearances, unlawful killings and other violations.

The BYC said such incidents had created “an atmosphere of fear and insecurity” across the region, particularly among young people, students, teachers, workers and ordinary civilians.

It urged international attention and accountability over what it described as continuing human rights violations in Balochistan.

Pakistani authorities have not issued an immediate statement on the family’s allegations, the BYC’s statement or the circumstances surrounding Mujahid’s death.
