Two brothers were allegedly forcibly disappeared from Panjgur district of Balochistan, while family members were later pressured to hold a press conference against the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) as a condition for their release, local sources said.

According to local sources, Tauheed and Abu Bakr, sons of Mohammad Siddiq, were taken into custody by Pakistani forces from Khudabadan in Panjgur on May 6 and moved to an undisclosed location, after which no information was provided about their whereabouts.

Sources said Tauheed is the son-in-law of Zaheer, a man who has been missing since 2015, while his wife, Adeeba Zaheer, is said to be an active member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee.

According to the sources, after the disappearance of the two brothers, Adeeba Zaheer was pressured to hold a press conference against the BYC and announce her disassociation from the organisation, adding that this was presented as a condition for the release of her husband and brother-in-law.

Sources claimed that Adeeba Zaheer held a press conference on Friday as a result of the pressure. However, authorities have not issued any official statement in this regard.

The incident involves a family that, according to local sources, has faced enforced disappearances and violence for the past decade.

Adeeba Zaheer’s father, Zaheer, was taken into custody by Pakistani forces from Hub Chowki on April 13, 2015, after which no information about his whereabouts has been received.

Another member of the same family, Zeeshan Zaheer, was abducted in broad daylight from Garmkan Football Chowk on June 29, 2025. His body was found the next day, with the family alleging that he was killed after being taken into custody.
