A senior officer of the Airport Security Force has reportedly gone missing in Kalat district of Balochistan.
According to reports, ASF Deputy Director and Commanding Officer Waseem Ahmed was allegedly detained by armed men during a snap-checking operation in Kalat.
Regional sources said the incident occurred while Waseem Ahmed was travelling in connection with official duties.
Waseem Ahmed is currently posted in Zhob. He has previously served in Multan, Karachi and Panjgur. Sources further stated that following his promotion to Deputy Director, he was assigned postings in Karachi and Zhob.
No official statement has yet been issued by Pakistani authorities regarding the reported incident. The development has raised further concerns over the security situation in Balochistan.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the reported detention. However, in July 2022, the BLA claimed responsibility for the capture and subsequent killing of Pakistan Army Colonel Laiq Baig Mirza during what it described as an “intelligence-based operation (IBO)” in Ziarat.
