A growing number of dengue fever cases has been recorded in Turbat between April 1 and April 14, with health authorities confirming 92 positive cases out of 842 samples tested, according to data from the Teaching Hospital.

Hospital figures show that on April 1, 32 individuals were tested, with five cases confirmed. On April 6, four cases were detected out of 94 tests; on April 7, 10 out of 105; on April 8, 14 out of 114; on April 9, nine out of 95; on April 10, 12 out of 84; on April 11, 15 out of 103; on April 13, 10 out of 101; and on April 14, 13 cases were confirmed from 114 samples.

The figures indicate an overall upward trend, with daily testing showing fluctuating but increasing infection rates, hospital sources said.

Medical professionals said the pattern reflected inadequate control of mosquito breeding in the city and warned of a possible further rise in cases if preventive measures are not strengthened.

Residents expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the health department and other relevant authorities, citing what they described as a lack of timely and effective intervention.

Health experts have called for urgent steps, including fumigation, improved sanitation and better drainage systems, to curb the spread of the virus.
