The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), an armed “pro-independence” group, said on Sunday its fighters killed nine Pakistani military personnel in two attacks in the Jhao and Jiwani areas of Balochistan.
In a statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said fighters ambushed two vehicles from a military convoy in the Koto–Kotori area of Jhao on 3 January, killing seven personnel and injuring six others. The group said the vehicles were “completely damaged”.
The BLF said Pakistani forces carried out raids in nearby villages after the attack, while its fighters “returned safely” to their bases.
The group said its fighters also killed two members of Military Intelligence in the Panwan area of Jiwani the same evening and seized their weapons.
Major Baloch said the BLF accepted responsibility for both attacks and vowed to continue operations “until the liberation of Balochistan”.
Pakistan’s military authorities had not commented on the incidents at the time of reporting.
