At least eight people, including six children, have died following a rapidly spreading cholera outbreak in Balochistan’s Musakhel district, while dozens of others have fallen ill, local sources said.
According to reports, the number of cases has continued to rise in different parts of the district, forcing families to shift several affected patients to nearby hospitals. Despite these efforts, the outbreak has yet to be brought under control.
Local residents blamed inadequate healthcare facilities and poorly equipped hospitals for the worsening situation, saying the absence of timely medical care and preventive measures has made it difficult to contain the spread of the disease.
In response to the outbreak, government officials have altered school timings at public schools in the district. However, residents said the step remains insufficient in the absence of emergency medical facilities, clean drinking water and effective disease control measures.
The rising number of cases has triggered fear and concern among the local population, with residents urging authorities to take immediate action to contain the outbreak and ensure access to proper medical treatment.
