A young man and woman were allegedly killed in a suspected honour-related incident in Kharan district, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The man was identified as Gul Nazar, while the woman’s identity has not yet been disclosed. Authorities said the two were attacked over suspicions of violating traditional social codes.
Honour-related killings remain a persistent issue in Balochistan, where dozens of such cases are reported each year, with rights groups noting that many cases go unreported due to social stigma, family pressure, or tribal settlements.
“While women are most often the victims, men are also sometimes targeted in such incidents,” a local human rights activist told reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Police said no arrests have been confirmed so far.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly urged the government to strengthen enforcement against honour crimes, describing them as unlawful killings carried out under the pretext of tradition.
