The body of a man bearing bullet wounds was found near Purana Parom Cross in Balochistan’s Panjgur, police said on Saturday.
According to officials, the body was identified as Asadullah, son of Haji Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Parom who had recently been living in Chitkan.
Local sources said that Asadullah, a driver by profession, was forcibly disappeared from his home in Panjgur on the night of 9 September. His whereabouts had remained unknown until the recovery of his body three days later.
In a statement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) accused alleged state-backed “death squads” and law enforcement agencies of carrying out his enforced disappearance and subsequent killing. The group said Asadullah was “extrajudicially killed after being taken from his home” and described him as a humble man known in his community.
The BYC condemned what it called “a pattern of extrajudicial killings” in Balochistan and urged human rights organizations to take notice.
