Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of “pro-independence” armed groups, on Sunday claimed responsibility for a large-scale attack on the main camp of the Pakistani military in the Matin Goran area of Panjgur, stating that at least 22 military personnel were killed and more than 14 injured, including Captain Osama.

According to a statement issued by BRAS spokesperson Baloch Khan, the operation took place at approximately 6pm on Friday, when BRAS fighters launched a three-pronged assault on the 91 Wing central camp and its adjoining outposts in Goran.

The statement said the clash lasted for two hours, during which BRAS fighters “gained control over two key posts and a significant section of the camp.”

The group said the attack inflicted “heavy casualties and military losses” on Pakistani forces and that its fighters seized weapons, ammunition, and equipment including Kalashnikovs, G3 rifles, machine guns, night vision devices, and thermal scanners.

BRAS added that its units blocked the CPEC route at two points to prevent reinforcements, but claimed that Pakistani forces “failed to come to the aid of their besieged personnel.” The statement also said BRAS fighters destroyed surveillance cameras, “further damaging the enemy’s intelligence infrastructure.”

During the operation, BRAS claimed, three military personnel were surrounded at one of the captured posts. “Frontline fighter Sarmachar Ameer alias Baba, attempted to persuade the soldiers to surrender without bloodshed,” but was shot by military fire from behind. Severely injured, Ameer “avoided capture by taking his own life in accordance with the philosophy of ‘last bullet’,” according to the statement.

According to BRAS, Ameer, son of Aasmi and a resident of Urz Muhammad Bazaar in the Hoshab area of Kech, joined the Baloch Liberation Army in 2014 and served in both urban and mountain units. The group described him as “an exemplary comrade known for his discipline and political insight.”

The spokesperson reiterated BRAS’s commitment to continue such operations, stating, “The sacrifices of Sarmachar Ameer alias Baba and other martyrs are the foundation of our struggle. Such attacks on enemy forces will not only continue but will also intensify.”

BRAS concluded by declaring its intent to continue the fight “until the complete defeat of the enemy and the liberation of Balochistan.”
