Mobile internet services have been suspended across Balochistan following directives from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), reportedly due to security-related concerns. The shutdown has affected millions of users across the region, disrupting daily life, education, and online economic activity.
According to sources, the decision to suspend internet access was taken in light of potential threats, though specific details regarding the nature of these threats have not been disclosed. The blanket suspension has sparked widespread frustration, particularly among students and individuals whose livelihoods depend on internet connectivity.
With no official timeline provided for the restoration of services, residents remain uncertain about when normal communication channels will resume. The disruption has also impacted access to social media platforms and other digital communication tools, further isolating communities in the already underserved region.
The Government of Balochistan has already imposed a ban on public gatherings under Section 144 for fifteen days, effective from 1 August.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department last Friday, the directive prohibits the assembly of four or more people in public spaces.
