Balochistan has witnessed a surge in armed attacks and military operations over the past few days, with multiple incidents reported in Kalat, Mastung, and Kech.
In Kalat, a major armed assault was carried out on a convoy of Pakistani security forces in the Kohak area during the evening hours of the previous day. Armed assailants ambushed the convoy, resulting in prolonged clashes that reportedly lasted several hours. Reinforcements dispatched to the scene were also targeted in subsequent attacks. The situation in the area remains tense, with increased aerial activity observed, including the presence of Pakistani military helicopters and significant troop deployments conducting ground operations.
Meanwhile, in Mastung, a bomb blast struck Pakistani security personnel earlier today in the Ab-e-Gul area. According to sources, the troops had dismounted from their vehicles and were advancing on foot when an improvised explosive device hit them. The explosion reportedly caused multiple casualties, with at least six personnel either killed or wounded.
Subsequently, a large-scale military operation has been launched in the Splinji area of Mastung. The operation covers the regions of Maro, Mal, Tank, Shishar, and surrounding villages. Military helicopters, armoured vehicles, and surveillance drones have been deployed in the operation, and heavy troop presence has been reported. Local sources confirm ongoing aerial and ground surveillance, alongside strict security checkpoints and movement restrictions. No official statements have been released by the Pakistani military or government authorities regarding the scale or objective of the operation.
In a related development, Kech district has also seen intensified aerial activity, with surveillance drones reportedly flying over Kolbar and Zamuran areas for the past two days. In addition, there has been a noticeable increase in the movement of ground forces, particularly around the Buleda region, suggesting the potential for further military operations. However, no official confirmation has been provided at this stage.
Furthermore, in Dalbandin, armed individuals reportedly established a temporary blockade on the main highway, where they searched passenger vehicles and targeted trucks transporting mineral resources.
Despite the severity of these incidents, neither Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) nor other state authorities have issued any public statements. While the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for an earlier killing of security personnel in Tafatan two days ago, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the recent attacks in Kalat and Mastung.
These developments highlight a renewed wave of unrest in Balochistan, where Pakistani forces continue to face frequent and organised armed resistance in various districts.
