Unconfirmed reports emerging from Tump tehsil in Balochistan’s Kech district indicate that unidentified armed assailants targeted Pakistani security personnel on foot patrol in the Mirabad area on Saturday.
According to local sources, the attack occurred while the personnel were passing through the town market. The attackers, reportedly riding motorcycles, opened fire on the patrolling forces before fleeing the scene. Reports suggest that several personnel may have been killed in the ambush, though no official confirmation or casualty figures have been released by authorities at this time.
Tump’s local administration has confirmed the occurrence of the incident, stating that security reinforcements were immediately deployed to the area following the attack. A search operation is currently underway to track down the perpetrators.
The region has historically seen activity from Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, who have launched periodic attacks on Pakistani military and paramilitary targets in pursuit of their nationalist objectives. However, no group has claimed responsibility for this latest incident as of yet.
