The cycle of enforced disappearances in Balochistan shows no sign of stopping, with fresh reports confirming the abduction of two young men from different parts of Balochistan, allegedly at the hands of the Pakistani security froces.
On the morning of July 11, 19-year-old student Ashfaq s/o Mushtaq was reportedly detained by personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from A-One City Phase 2, Quetta. Ashfaq, a resident of Mashkay in Awaran district, is described by his family as a regular student with no political affiliations. According to eyewitnesses, the security forces took him away, and his whereabouts remain unknown since his detention.
In a separate incident, Awaz Hassan s/o Hassan was reportedly forcibly disappeared from Arz Muhammad Bazaar in Hoshab. Locals report that the incident occurred around 9:00 am when Pakistani forces conducting a military operation in the area detained the victim and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Witnesses from Hoshab said that during the operation, security personnel gathered residents from their homes, forced them into one location, and confiscated their mobile phones. Amid this heavy-handed action, Awaz Hassan was picked up and has not been seen since.
