The ongoing protest for the recovery of missing persons by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) reached its 5,883rd day in front of the Quetta Press Club on Friday. The protest continues under the leadership of VBMP’s executive committee member, Niaz Muhammad Nichari.

The protest has attracted solidarity from various segments of society, with notable figures such as Muhim Khan, the former chairman of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO), joining the camp to express support for the families of the missing.

Munim Khan, along with others, condemned the increasing instances of forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan, voicing deep concern over the lack of accountability and the persistent state of impunity. He warned that the continued use of force and extrajudicial actions would further exacerbate the sense of alienation among the people of Balochistan, leading to a worsening of the already volatile situation in the region.

While addressing the gathering, Muhim Khan urged the Balochistan and federal governments to refrain from using force and to stop extra-legal measures. He emphasized that the issue of missing persons is political in nature and must be resolved through political means. He called for the immediate recovery of the missing persons and the cessation of unlawful killings and enforced disappearances in the region.
