A brutally tortured body of a young man has been discovered in Kech district of Balochistan. The victim has been identified as Wahid, son of Sawali, a resident of Nasirabad in Kech.
According to the family, Wahid was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and later killed after being subjected to severe torture.
Wahid was reportedly working abroad as a laborer and had recently returned to his hometown from the United Arab Emirates to spend his vacation. On June 2nd, he was allegedly abducted from the premises of Civil Hospital Turbat. Two days later, on June 4th, his body was found in a deserted area.
The body bore multiple signs of torture, including cigarette burns. His face had been disfigured, with one eye gouged out.
Nationalist groups and human rights organizations claim that such incidents are not uncommon in Balochistan and continue to occur regularly. According to these groups, dozens of young men are forcibly disappeared, held in secret detention for extended periods, or their tortured bodies are later found dumped in remote areas.
There has been a noticeable increase in the recovery of bodies of missing persons in Balochistan in recent weeks. In the past week alone, dozens of such bodies have been discovered in Awaran, Kech, Kalat, Mastung, and other regions, all reportedly victims of enforced disappearances.
