According to reports, several mutilated bodies have been recovered across Balochistan in recent days, highlighting a grim pattern of enforced disappearances and suspected extrajudicial killings during Pakistani military operations in the region.

The most recent case emerged this morning in the Kolwah Gishang area of Awaran district, where the tortured body of Sajid Nasir, a young man reportedly abducted the night before by Pakistani forces and state-backed armed groups, was discovered in Malar Cheel. Sajid, the son of Nasir Baloch, had been taken from his home during a late-night raid, according to local sources.

His body, bearing signs of severe torture, was found dumped in a remote area—fueling accusations of systematic abuse by security forces.

Just two days earlier, Levies official Younus Rasool was similarly abducted from his home in the same area. His corpse was later recovered in Damb, with Pakistani authorities attempting to link him to the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF). The BLF, however, strongly denied any connection.

Two more bodies were found in Hub Chowki, an industrial city of Balochistan near Karachi. One decomposed body was recovered from bushes in the Sakran area, while another was found in a drain near the Gadani stop, later identified as Amjad. The causes of their deaths remain under investigation.

Balochistan has long been the site of an intense struggle between the Pakistani state and Baloch nationalist forces, who demand independence or greater autonomy. Pro-independence movements in the province argue that the region’s vast resources are exploited without benefiting the local population, and that the people of Balochistan are politically and economically marginalised.

Since the early 2000s, human rights organisations have reported thousands of cases of enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings allegedly perpetrated by Pakistan’s security forces. Victims often include students, political workers, and civilians suspected of sympathising with the nationalist cause.

The ongoing military operations—often justified in the name of counterinsurgency—are viewed by many as tools of state repression rather than genuine efforts to combat militancy. The recovery of tortured and mutilated bodies, like that of Sajid Nasir, has become tragically routine, deepening resentment and further fuelling the cycle of violence in the region.
