According to reports from Hub Chowki, law enforcement officers, including personnel in plain clothes, raided an examination center at Muslim School on Lasi Road in an attempt to arrest Mahzaib Baloch, a student and social activist affiliated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

Eyewitnesses stated that the police surrounded the examination center and attempted to detain Mahzaib Baloch. However, she managed to leave the premises with the help of fellow students and teachers before they could apprehend her.

The exam center’s administration was reportedly informed by the police that Mahzaib is wanted under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) and that legal proceedings are underway for her arrest.

Mahzaib Baloch is the niece of the forcibly disappeared Baloch political activist Rashid Hussain. She has been actively participating in protests organized by the BYC in Karachi and Hub, demanding justice and the recovery of missing persons in Balochistan. Mahzaib has previously been detained multiple times in connection with her activism.

Speaking on the matter, Mahzaib claimed that authorities have threatened her during past arrests, warning her that continued involvement with the BYC would result in targeted actions against her. She further alleged that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued her tax notices in an apparent attempt to intimidate her.

“I am not even 18 years old. I have never registered with the tax revenue department, nor do I own any taxable property,” she stated. “These actions are being taken to restrict my movement, block my SIM cards, and instill fear.”

Mahzaib emphasized that her demands are within the framework of the constitution. “Peaceful protest is our democratic right,” she said, “and we are exercising that right to demand the safe return of our forcibly disappeared loved ones.”
