A sit-in protest continues on the CPEC highway in Panjgur against the alleged enforced disappearance of a young man identified as Aqil Baloch. The demonstration, which began late at Friday night, has drawn a significant number of participants demanding his safe recovery.

This protest is part of a series of demonstrations across Balochistan against enforced disappearances. Over the past week, similar protests have taken place in Surab, Kardgap, Kalat, Hub, Quetta, and Turbat. Reports indicate that more than 70 cases of enforced disappearances have emerged in Balochistan within a week.

Meanwhile, in Kalat, families of missing persons ended their protest following successful negotiations with the local administration. The Quetta-Karachi highway, which had been blocked for four days, has now been reopened for traffic. Protesters stated that an agreement was reached between the families of missing persons, including those of Ashfaq Baloch, and the district administration. Consequently, the planned wheel-jam strike in Quetta and Mastung on Saturday, called by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, has been postponed.

However, protesters warned that if the administration fails to implement the agreed terms, they will resume their demonstrations.

In Mastung’s Kardgap area, another sit-in on the main highway continues as negotiations between district officials and families of missing persons remained inconclusive on Friday night.
