At least three people, including two policemen, were killed in two separate attacks in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
According to reports, Police Head Constable Shams-ul-Islam and Constable Ramzan were killed, while Constable Asif Raza sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint in the Shaban area on the outskirts of Quetta.
Local sources indicate that armed men also ambushed reinforcements from FC and police arriving from Quetta, triggering another round of clashes. Reports suggest there were additional casualties in the skirmishes, though exact figures remain unconfirmed. The attackers reportedly seized a significant cache of weapons during the assault. The injured and deceased were transported to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment and identification.
In a separate incident, an individual allegedly attempting to plant an explosive device was killed when it detonated prematurely in the Kachi Baig area of Quetta. Authorities stated that the suspect was en route to carrying out an attack when the device exploded unexpectedly.
Following the blast, police, security forces, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and bomb disposal squads arrived at the scene to collect evidence for further investigation. Authorities confirmed that the remains of the suspected bomber have been sent for DNA testing and identification through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
