Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have significantly escalated their attacks against Pakistani law enforcement forces, installations, and state-backed projects across Balochistan in recent months. In two separate incidents, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) have claimed responsibility for targeting Pakistani forces and state-aligned entities.

According to a statement issued by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group’s fighters carried out two attacks in Mastung and Kalat areas of Balochistan. In the first attack, BLA fighters targeted Pakistani security personnel with a hand grenade near the Cadet College in Mastung while they were conducting a checkpoint operation. The explosion resulted in at least two soldiers being injured, the BLA spokesperson claimed.

In another attack in Kalat, BLA fighters detained and subsequently executed a Pakistani military informant in the Soro area. The spokesperson claimed that the individual, who was disguised as a civilian, was working covertly for the Pakistani military. The BLA has taken full responsibility for both actions.

Meanwhile, the BLF has also intensified its operations, with its spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch, confirming an attack on a construction company in the Giresha Jawarji area of Khuzdar. The attack, which took place at dusk, resulted in the destruction of all machinery on-site, including three tractors, three bulldozers, and an excavator. BLF fighters warned and later released labourers of non-Baloch origin before setting the equipment on fire.

According to the BLF statement, the targeted company was involved in constructing link roads for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The group reiterated previous warnings to contractors and companies collaborating with state-backed projects, vowing to continue attacks against “imperialistic exploitative projects” until the goal of an independent Balochistan is achieved.

Both BLA and BLF have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying attacks against Pakistani forces, their allies, and projects associated with state control in Balochistan.
