A man was reportedly shot and killed in the Kech district of Balochistan, local sources said.
The victim, identified as Jalal, son of Rafiq, was allegedly killed by gunfire from members of a state-backed armed group, commonly known as “death squads.”
Baloch nationalist groups and human rights activists have long accused these so-called “death squads” of operating with the support of state authorities.
They allege that such groups operate across Balochistan, carrying out killings, enforced disappearances, and other human rights abuses with impunity due to alleged support from the Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies.
Critics say these armed groups also engage in criminal activities such as kidnapping for ransom, extortion, and the targeted assassination of political activists.
