We, the students and concerned stakeholders, strongly condemn the actions of the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of LUAWMS, Mr. Abdul Malik Tareen, who is at the center of deeply troubling allegations of harassment, unlawful surveillance, and forceful eviction of students from university hostels. These actions not only undermine the sanctity of education but also violate fundamental human rights and ethical standards expected from a leader in academia.
It is alarming to learn about the alleged harassment faced by students under the administration of Mr. Abdul Malik Tareen. Reports of hidden cameras being placed in female hostels are a gross violation of privacy, dignity, and safety. Such acts constitute criminal behavior and demonstrate a complete disregard for the well-being and trust of the students. Female students, in particular, deserve safe spaces free from fear, surveillance, and intimidation.
Students have reportedly been coerced into vacating their hostels within unreasonably short deadlines, leaving them with no viable alternatives. Many were forced to take their belongings home or find temporary shelter under immense stress. This action disrupts their educational pursuits, mental health, and basic sense of security. Forcing students out of their academic residences undermines their ability to focus on studies and violates their right to a peaceful learning environment.
The Government of Balochistan and other relevant stakeholders have yet to take meaningful action against these unethical and harmful practices. The silence and inaction of those in positions of authority are enabling a culture of impunity within the university. By failing to intervene, they risk tarnishing the reputation of the institution and jeopardizing the futures of countless students.
An educational institution should be a sanctuary of learning, personal growth, and security. Mr. Abdul Malik Tareen’s actions have betrayed these principles and jeopardized the futures of LUAWMS students. His leadership has caused harm, created a climate of fear, and violated the rights of those he is entrusted to serve.
We stand united in calling for justice, accountability, and the restoration of dignity and safety for all students at LUAWMS. The future of education in Balochistan depends on addressing these issues with urgency and transparency.
