The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has declared January 25 as “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day,” aiming to honor those allegedly killed in what the group describes as “genocidal policies” against the Baloch people. A major public gathering is planned in Dalbandin, Chaghi district, to mark the occasion.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at “Dasht Kabristan,” a site known for its graveyard of unidentified bodies. Speaking at the event, BYC leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch emphasized that the date commemorates the 2014 discovery of over 100 mutilated bodies in Balochistan’s Tootak. She alleged that the remains belonged to Baloch individuals who were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani military and intelligence agencies.

“This tragic event has left an indelible scar on the collective memory of the Baloch nation, causing immense pain for every Baloch family, mother, sister, brother, father, and innocent child,” Dr. Mahrang said.

Dr. Mahrang argued that the “systematic targeting and killing” of Baloch people, often buried in unmarked or mislabeled graves, constitutes genocide under international law. “Hundreds of Baloch youths were taken from their homes and communities, only to be returned as unrecognizable corpses,” she claimed, adding that sites like Dasht Cemetery stand as evidence of widespread atrocities.

The BYC stated that the event on January 25 will serve as a platform to raise awareness of these alleged crimes and demand international recognition of the Baloch “genocide.” The group called on people across Balochistan and the diaspora to participate actively.

According to the BYC, zones across Balochistan have been instructed to mobilize local communities, collect data on victims, and coordinate with affected families in preparation for the memorial day. The organization also plans to launch online campaigns, webinars, and social media initiatives to amplify global awareness of the alleged atrocities.

“This day is not only a testament to the resilience of the Baloch nation but also an opportunity to awaken the global conscience to recognize the Baloch genocide and take immediate action to stop it,” BYC said.

The BYC urged the Baloch people to stand united and contribute to the success of the gathering in Dalbandin. The event is expected to draw significant attention to the ongoing conflict in Balochistan and the plight of those affected by enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
