The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for two separate attacks targeting a Pakistani military informant and vehicles involved in transporting Balochistan’s minerals. The group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, stated in a press release detailing the attacks carried out in Turbat and Kalat.
According to the statement, BLA fighters targeted a local informant of the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies, Ghulam Jan, in Turbat’s Kalatuk area. Ghulam Jan, son of Mohammad Asa, an official of the Levies force, a resident of Hafto Dagar Kahaan, was killed in an armed attack on Monday.
The spokesperson alleged that the deceased had been an active member of a death squad formed by the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies. He was accused of facilitating forced disappearances and conducting raids on local homes, as well as being involved in extortion, armed checkpoints, and the narcotics trade in the area. Jeeyand Baloch stated that Ghulam Jan was executed for his “treason against the Baloch nation,” and his motorcycle and other belongings were seized by the BLA fighters.
In a separate incident, BLA fighters attacked vehicles transporting minerals in Kalat’s Mangochar area near Rangi Cross on Tuesday, said BLA spokesperson. The BLA fighters reportedly targeted three vehicles involved in the extraction and transportation of Balochistan’s natural resources, rendering them inoperable during the assault.
The BLA concluded the statement by claiming full responsibility for both attacks, asserting that such actions are part of their ongoing resistance against what they describe as the exploitation and oppression of the Baloch people by the Pakistani state.
The incidents highlight the ongoing unrest in Balochistan, a region long marred by conflict over resources, autonomy, and alleged human rights abuses.
