Two major Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), have claimed responsibility for separate attacks targeting Pakistani military personnel in Balochistan’s Mastung and Jhao areas.
In Mastung, the BLA said that its fighters carried out a hand grenade attack near a Pakistani military camp on Saturday night.
“The fighters targeted the occupying Pakistani army personnel in Mastung city during an attack while they were busy with a blockade near their main camp,” said BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch. “As a result of the explosion, one personnel was eliminated on the spot, and two personnel were injured.”
Meanwhile, in Jhao’s Mulla Gazzi area, the BLF claimed responsibility for an attack on a military checkpoint early Friday morning. BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the attack involved “advanced and heavy weaponry and inflicted both personnel and material losses on Pakistani forces.”
“The BLF’s attacks continue throughout Balochistan with public support, and each successful attack reflects a guerrilla strategy,” he said.
Major Gwahram Baloch added, “The Balochistan Liberation Front accepts responsibility for this attack and will continue to target forces until the achievement of an independent Balochistan.”
