With profound sorrow, we lost Hameeda Baloch, a woman of extraordinary courage and bravery, on October 28, 2024. At the young age of 29, Hameeda lost her battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her people and her ideology. Her smiling face and compassionate nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born in Awaran, Balochistan, Hameeda’s political journey began in 2009 when she entered student politics. Throughout her life, she remained a committed and principled political worker despite the immense personal losses she endured. Among her six siblings, Hameeda experienced the painful loss of one brother, who was martyred in 2019, and the abduction of another brother on November 20, 2017. Her relentless efforts resulted in the recovery of her brother, which shows her unwavering determination and love for her family and her resistance against inhuman crimes like enforced disappearances.
Hameeda pursued a career in nursing and later continued her studies at the University of Uthal, all while actively participating in student politics. She was not only fighting cancer but was also battling against a system of injustice and oppression that threatened her people. Even during her illness, Hameeda’s thoughts and concerns were for her comrades, and her commitment to her beliefs was stronger than the disease that ultimately claimed her life.
Hameeda Baloch’s contributions as a daughter, sister, friend, and professional will forever be remembered and cherished. A woman whose very essence embodied the strength of the Baloch spirit, Hameeda dedicated her life tirelessly to the Baloch cause. She stood as proof that a woman could be everything at once: a nurturing mother, a loyal sister, a devoted wife, a skilled professional, and, above all, a true revolutionary.
