Residents of Mand in Balochistan’s Kech district protested the alleged “occupation” of their homes and lands by the Frontier Corps (FC), who they say are establishing checkposts on their property. According to locals, FC forces have been advancing into the region, taking over homes and land in Mand’s Mehir area and reportedly converting them into security checkposts.
On Friday, dozens of men, women, and children took to the main road in Mand, blocking traffic and chanting slogans against the reported “occupation.” They demanded the immediate return of their homes and lands, saying that their livelihoods and community spaces are being disrupted. Protesters further alleged that FC personnel have taken control of a local school, positioning guards on the rooftops, which has instilled fear among students and teachers, particularly affecting women and children.
Residents say that access to their homes and lands has been restricted, and they reportedly face threats from FC personnel should they continue to protest. Local community members have appealed to government authorities to intervene and end the alleged “occupation”, warning that if their demands are not met, they will escalate their protests.
