Mobile data services have been suspended in several districts of Balochistan, including Khuzdar, Gwadar, and Kech.
According to information received by The Balochistan Post, the shutdown began at 8 PM on Monday. Unverified reports suggest that the Pakistani government directed mobile networks to cut data services due to security concerns.
It is important to note that Panjgur has faced an internet blackout for five years. Now, Khuzdar, Kech, and Gwadar are experiencing similar disruptions.
Public protests against the prolonged shutdown in Panjgur have been raised in Pakistan’s Senate and provincial assemblies.
Locals in newly affected areas expressed frustration, saying the shutdown deprives them of essential services. Business owners and students described life without internet as “living in a confined well.”
Residents argue that internet access is essential for education, commerce, and daily activities. Some fear that the shutdowns may soon extend to other parts of Balochistan.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, has previously commented on the ongoing internet restrictions in the region and has reportedly suggested such shutdowns in response to security concerns.
