The family of Chakar Khan Bugti, son of Arz Muhammad Bugti, has alleged his enforced disappearance, accusing local authorities of complicity. According to the family, Chakar was summoned to the Hub City police station on November 5 by SHO Saud Durrani under the pretext of an investigation.
The family said that Chakar spent the entire day at the station, during which his motorcycle and two mobile phones were confiscated. The motorcycle remains in police custody. He was released at around 7 PM, but as he left the station with his cousins, two vehicles — a silver-colored Surf without license plates and a white car — reportedly began following them.
They said that as the group reached near a Toyota showroom, unidentified armed men stopped them, forcibly removed Chakar from the motorcycle, and took him away in the two vehicles. His family claims these vehicles had been parked outside the police station prior to the incident, raising suspicions of coordination with the authorities.
In protest against his disappearance, Chakar’s relatives blocked the RCD Highway at Bhawani in Hub Chowki, disrupting traffic between Quetta and Karachi. During the demonstration, DSP Imam Baloch and SHO Saud Durrani assured the family that Chakar’s whereabouts would be revealed within 24 hours. Trusting this promise, the family ended their protest and reopened the road. However, despite these assurances, 11 days have passed, and there has been no information about Chakar’s fate or whereabouts.
The family has accused SHO Saud Durrani of detaining Chakar without cause and failing to protect him. They demanded an explanation for why he was held at the station for two consecutive days and questioned the presence of suspicious vehicles outside the police station.
“We demand the authorities clarify who has taken Chakar and why,” the family stated. “If he is guilty of any crime, present him in court. Do not subject our entire family to this suffering.”
