The crisis of enforced disappearances continues to cast a dark shadow over Balochistan, targeting individuals from all walks of life. Over the past two decades, students, activists, journalists, and ordinary civilians have vanished, leaving families gripped by uncertainty and fear. This pervasive climate of loss has deeply scarred the emotional and psychological fabric of the region.

Thousands of children await the return of missing fathers, while figures like Sammi Deen Baloch and Mehlab Deen Baloch have spent their youth in protest camps, tirelessly campaigning for their fathers’ safe return—yet often met with silence. Others, like Dr. Mahrang Baloch, have grown up without the affection and guidance of a father, living with the loss as part of their daily reality.

Across Balochistan, women live in agonizing limbo, unsure if they are widows. They struggle to console grieving children, while elderly parents cling to the hope of reuniting with missing sons—many passing away without ever knowing their fate.

Human rights organizations and Baloch nationalists allege that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and security forces are behind these disappearances—a claim the Pakistani government denies. However, evidence gathered by activists and rights groups paints a troubling picture, suggesting a systemic issue.

Rights advocates continue to demand accountability, calling on the Pakistani government to uphold international human rights standards and conduct thorough investigations. Yet, with each passing month, the list of those reported missing grows longer.
