Baloch political activists Mahrang Baloch and Sabiha Baloch met with a European Union delegation to highlight human rights violations in Balochistan.

The activists raised issues including enforced disappearances, harassment, and restrictions on peaceful political activities.

In a post on X, Mahrang Baloch shared details of the meeting. She wrote, “Sabiha Baloch and I recently met with the EU delegation to discuss the critical situation in Balochistan.”

She added, “Thank you, EU, for your time and attention. We urge the EU to address the alarming human rights violations, enforced disappearances, and suppression of peaceful activism in Balochistan.”

The EU Delegation to Pakistan acknowledged the meeting in a statement posted on X. It said, “Ahead of an intense week of bilateral consultations, Deren Derya, Head of Pakistan and Afghanistan Division, and EU officials welcomed the opportunity to connect with human rights defenders.”

The statement also noted that discussions covered “fundamental rights and the socio-economic situation in Balochistan.”

The meeting comes amid growing international concern over human rights violations in Balochistan, including harassment of women and children, suppression of free expression, and a rise in enforced disappearances.

The activists called on the EU to take effective measures to address rights violations and ensure accountability in Balochistan.
