The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) in Quetta was set on fire by unidentified individuals on Tuesday, according to the organization’s Vice Chairman, Mama Qadeer Baloch.
In a video statement from the scene, Mama Qadeer explained that he was present at the camp when someone set it on fire from behind and fled.
“I was sitting in the camp as usual when someone set it on fire from behind and then ran away,” he said.
He confirmed that local authorities have been informed and called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack.
The VBMP hunger strike camp has been a peaceful protest for the past 14 years, advocating for the recovery of Baloch individuals who have allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies.
