Dr. Mahrang Baloch, organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), and Sammi Deen Baloch, general secretary of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), spoke at an event hosted by the Karachi Bar Association, where they criticized the judiciary for allegedly aligning with the military.

The event experienced a brief disruption when electricity was cut off in the hall, but the interruption was met with chants of support from the audience. Lawyers present called on both activists to continue their speeches.

Dr. Baloch accused the judiciary of failing to uphold its role in delivering justice, stating that it has instead become “spokespersons for the military.” She claimed that no amount of government spending in Balochistan could conceal the violence inflicted on the local population.

She drew attention to the experiences of Baloch mothers, many of whom, she said, have found the mutilated bodies of their missing children. “These mothers are not asking for justice anymore,” she said. “They simply want to know if they can identify their child’s body.”

Dr. Baloch also emphasized that Baloch women are at the forefront of a growing movement in the region, which she believes will continue to gain momentum.

She further noted that for over 15 years, mothers from Baloch, Sindhi, and Pashtun nations have approached the courts, pleading for the return of their missing sons. Despite this, she criticized the judiciary for its inaction, highlighting the rising number of cases of enforced disappearances.
