The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a “pro-independence” armed group, has claimed responsibility for an attack on the Pakistani Army’s headquarters in Quetta.
In a statement issued to the media on Thursday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said the group’s fighters launched grenade shells at the army headquarters, injuring six Pakistani military personnel, with some reportedly in critical condition.
“Our fighters successfully hit their target by firing multiple shells at the Pakistani army headquarters, resulting in injuries to six enemy personnel,” the BLA statement claimed.
The spokesperson further stated that the attack is part of the BLA’s ongoing efforts to drive what it calls the “occupying forces” out of Balochistan. The group has vowed to continue its operations until the complete withdrawal of Pakistani forces from the region.
There has been no official response from the Pakistani military regarding the attack at the time of publication.
